First houses

We went to look at our first houses today. It was a very last minute event because Miriam did not get time off in the morning until Wednesday afternoon. We were able to see 4 houses.

The first house was our favorite, it was also the most expensive. It had a nice layout and seemed to be a good size. When you walked in you were in the living room with the 2 bed rooms and bathroom to the right and the kitchen dining room, laundry room, and master bed room to the left. The problem that we noticed was that it is a short sale, meaning that the bank owns it and the sale of the house will not cover how much the people owe on it. It also means that if we were to make an offer on it we would have to wait for the banks approval. They were asking $175,000 so I am trying to keep that one out of mind since our top price is $150,000.

The second house we looked at was not nearly as nice as the first. It was a little smaller but with a large back yard. Once again when you walked in the front door you are in the living room. To the right was the kitchen and space for a dining room table. To the left was all three bedrooms and the shared bathroom. Past the living room was a Florida room, which is like a sun room I guess, followed by a screened concrete patio and the back yard. I did not really care for this one, but Miriam liked it a little better than I did. One of the big problems with it was that it is near railroad tracks that is still in use so while we were there we heard the train go by and that turned me off to it.

The third house we went to was by far the worst of the four. It is not currently occupied and I think that the last residents did not take good care of the place. There was holes in the walls, a few cords haning out of sockets, some switches with out switches not a very nice looking place. The funny thing about it was the kitchen looked really good. It was all brand new. We didn't stay there too long it was really bad.

The forth house was not too bad. You walk into a little hallway, when you walked in you can turn left and get to two of the bed rooms and the main bathroom. When you turned right you get to the living room, kitchen, dining room and master bed room. The kitchen was nice with plenty of counter space and cabinets. The master bathroom was very small. Compared to the other bathroom it was tiny. The house also smelled like dog and slightly of cigarettes. Miriam was not very impressed with this one.

Once we were done looking at the last house we asked Jill, our realtor, to add home owner associations to our house list in hopes that we could find something better than the ones we looked at today.
